Mikita was born in SokolĨe, Slovak Republic as Stanislav Guoth, but moved to St. Catharines, Ontario, as a young boy to escape Communist-controlled Czechoslovakia. He was adopted by his aunt and uncle who gave him their surname, Mikita. He lead the league in scoring 4 times throughout the 60’s and in the 66-67 season tied teammate Bobby Hull single season scoring record of 97 points.

Aside from his massive stats, 1467 points; 541 goals and 926 assists not to mention 1270 pims! Is that only 3 other players in NHL history have played more games while only playing with 1 team their whole career, Stan played in an impressive 1394 games all with Chicago. In today’s NHL that is an accomplishment that will likely never be beaten!

Another incredible feat is that he has been the only player in NHL history to win the Hart Memorial Trophy, Art Ross Trophy and the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy all in the same season as seen in the photo above.

Mikita was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983, and into the Slovak Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002.
